Cloudera Launches Enterprise Data Cloud Platform

Cloudera recently announced the launch of Cloudera Data Platform (CDP). The platform delivers self-service analytics across hybrid and multi-cloud environments along with granular security and governance.

The new platform provides with a full range of analytic capabilities from edge to Artificial Intelligence (AI), notes the announcement.

Cloudera claims that open source CDP platform is different from some other data platforms and analytics services as it can manage data anywhere from on-premises to public and hybrid clouds with the governance, metadata, and common security.

Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, Arun C. Murthy, said, "With Cloudera Data Platform, IT can embrace hybrid data architectures and set up cloud data lakes with enterprise-grade security and governance in hours instead of days or weeks. Business users get cloud-native, easy-to-use multi-function analytics satisfying their need for speed and agility."

Senior Analyst for the Data, AI and Analytics Channel at 451 Research, James Curtis, said, "While enterprises are rapidly adopting data platform technologies and are eager to explore the cloud for driving analytical workloads, many face challenges in trying to leverage all of their data to achieve better business outcomes. Solutions such as the forthcoming Cloudera Data Platform help enterprises navigate complex data processes across multiple clouds, manage data governance, and enable multi-function analytics, regardless of where the data resides."

Cloudera Services with CDP

Cloudera has also launched three new cloud services: Cloudera Machine Learning, Cloudera Data Warehouse, and Cloudera Data Hub.

Cloudera Data Warehouse is a cloud service for creating self-service data warehouses and the underlying compute clusters for teams of business analysts.

Cloud Machine Learning is a cloud service for creating self-service machine learning workspaces and the underlying compute clusters for the teams of data scientists.

Cloudera Data Hub is a cloud-native data management and analytics service which helps the developers to build custom business applications that support with a diverse set of use cases with secure, self-service access to enterprise data.

These Cloudera services will be available on the Amazon Web Services. The CDP Data Center will be available in tech preview for the selected customers. Later this year, CDP Data Center will be available with the annual subscriptions starting at $10000 per node, the announcement notes.

Earlier this year, Cloudera launched its new edge data management software solutions geared towards the Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge computing.

The platform launch comes months after the Cloudera merged with its rival Hortonworks in a deal worth around $5.2 billion, according to the report revealed. Cloudera owns around 60% of the equity in the company.
