Virtusa brings AR and AI capabilities to Telecoms Field Engineers

Virtusa has recently revealed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) based test and diagnostic capabilities to its Smart Field Force Management Platform

The platform aims to improve the efficiency of the field force workers. It helps technicians locate issues with minimal training. The solution offers a guided resolution path for the frequently encountered issues, with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

The application co-relates and initiates diagnostic tests which are based on the type of issues being reported. The system leverages machine learning and recognizes the 20000 different devices. This allows field engineers to diagnose issues with minimal training, notes the announcement.

Executive Opinion

EVP, technology, media, and telecommunications, Virtusa, Frank Palermo, said, "Customers today have a wide range of options for how to consume products and services from CSPs. Additionally, innovations around 5G will bring both immense opportunity and challenge. The Smart Field Force Management Platform will help improve customer service and reduce costs, enabling CSPs to better compete in this increasingly crowded market."

SVP, TMT solutions, Virtusa, Ravi Kumar Palepu, said, "Smart Field Force Management also provides real-time and historical performance data to enhance the diagnostic capabilities across network and customer equipment further. Technicians are now able to quickly identify faults across the network and devices avoiding guesswork and expensive equipment replacement."

Virtusa’s Smart Field Force Management Platform

Wireless and communications service providers (CSP), and the satellite operators traditionally have large contractor based field force. Training this large workforce to diagnose and make repairs with the help of a massive portfolio of products and equipment is often a huge challenge. This is where the Virtusa smart field force management platform comes into the picture.

Virtusa's smart field force management platform claims to reduce field operations by 60 percent. The platform can also help CSPs to improve their customer service experience with a 45 percent reduction in Customer-Premise Equipment (CPE) issues through guided resolution steps.

One of the European CSP providers is already leveraging the newly introduced platform, claims the announcement.
