IoT Connectivity startup, Totum Labs secured $13 million in funding
Totum Labs, a California based Satellite IoT connectivity startup, has now secured $13 million in a Series A funding round.
Totum Labs is founded by Ted Myers. It has invented and built Doppler Multichannel Spread Spectrum to enable the tracking and monitoring of billions of assets.
Its network connectivity coverage uses a constellation of Low Earth Orbit nano-satellites and small, low-cost modules with embedded antennas and a battery life of around ten years.
Executive Opinion
Founder and CEO of Totum Labs, Ted Myers, said, "Others that have launched satellites are not on a technical path to scale to billions of connections and they will largely be limited to high value, low-volume endpoints historically associated with satellite connectivity. Only Totum's DMSS technology can go head-to-head with the cellular industry for LPWA connectivity and provide a robust and cost-effective connectivity experience for a massive number of endpoint connections across a wide variety of industry use cases."
Matt Robinson, Founder and Managing Partner of Heroic Ventures, said, "Totum has a dominant waveform with an unparalleled link budget that positions the company to unlock the massive LPWA asset tracking and monitoring market. The Totum team has unmatched LPWA communications technical expertise, and we are thrilled to support them."
Totum Labs' Latest Funding
This new round brings the total funding secured to $15.5 million.
Space Capital and Heroic Ventures led the funding round with participation from existing investors, which includes Qamcom and Qualcomm co-founder Dr. Andrew Viterbi.
The company as of now has plans to use the new funds to accelerate and scale the deployment. The company further intends to commercialize its low power sensor to satellite connectivity and network.
