Medical Imaging Framework for Healthcare, MONAI from NVIDIA is now in production

The Medical Imaging framework for Healthcare, MONAI is now in production, NVIDIA announced recently.

Launched in April, the MONAI will be part of the NVIDIA Clara application framework for AI-powered healthcare and life sciences. The healthcare imaging AI framework is used by DKFZ, King’s College London, Mass General, Stanford, and Vanderbilt. MONAI stands for the Medical Open Network for AI.

NVIDIA's Clara is a healthcare application framework and includes full-stack GPU-accelerated libraries and SDKs. It also comes with reference applications for developers, data scientists, and researchers to create real-time, secure, and scalable applications.

Director of the QTIM lab at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at MGH, Dr. Jayashree Kalpathy-Cramer, said, "MONAI is becoming the PyTorch of healthcare, paving the way for closer collaboration between data scientists and clinicians. Global adoption of MONAI is fostering collaboration across the globe facilitated by federated learning."

Dr. Bennett Landman of Vanderbilt University, said, "MONAI is quickly becoming the go-to deep learning framework for healthcare. Getting from research to production is critical for the integration of AI applications into clinical care. NVIDIA’s commitment to community-driven science and allowing the academic community to contribute to a framework that is production-ready will allow for further innovation to build enterprise-ready features."

The MONAI software framework is open-source and provides key components for training and evaluating imaging-based deep learning models

The NVIDIA Clara offering will ship MONAI with 20 pre-trained models along with optimizations on NVIDIA DGX A100 GPUs. The machine pre-trained model also included models for COVID-19.
