Mobile Gaming Platform provider OnMobile Launching Crypto Payments for Game Players

 

OnMobile has now revealed the addition of crypto token payments on its online gaming platform, Onmo.

Onmobile is an Indian telecom and mobile services company that focuses more on online gaming. It claims to have around 80 million monthly users across its several competitive gaming products, which include Challenges Arena and Onmo. It also has some other products such as Contests for online quizzes and some other gamified services.

Krish Seshadri, CEO ONMO said "Gamers have been well habituated to virtual items and understand the value of virtual currencies. Our goal is to provide our global players with the best experience. With the rapid adoption of Crypto, we have now added Bitcoin as the main payment method to play games on ONMO across the globe. We will soon add other Crypto currencies to the payment methods in the ONMO wallet".

Onmobile also clarified that while Bitcoin will become the major payment method for its online gaming platform, Indian users will need to continue paying in regular fiat currency. India’s upcoming cryptocurrency regulation bill is expected to impose a clear ban on the usage of the cryptocurrency tokens such as Ether or Bitcoin as a currency for purchasing or selling any item.

Onmo is not a blockchain gaming platform but is deploying Bitcoin as one of its payment methods instead of using a proprietary token. Large gaming firms like Unisoft have also dabbled in the space, by launching NFTs around their games.
